You’ve just signed your contract. Congratulations!
Now is the time to begin collecting and organizing any postal mailing addresses for people who might want to know about and/or purchase your book.
This can include your personal family, friends, and colleagues. It may also include any organizations to which you belong that might be willing to share their mailing lists with you. (Often groups will only share their mailing lists with members, so it’s usually best if you approach the group yourself.)
Please provide these postal addresses in Excel format. You can download a template here.
Providing us with mailing lists is optional, but the number of addresses provided can affect the ways in which we are able to promote your book. For example, 200 addresses is the minimum number for a bulk mail initiative.
We are not able to send multitudes of unsolicited emails. While we may at times ask you for specific types of email addresses (reviewers, bookstore contacts, and so on), please do not send us your entire personal email contacts list. Instead, please encourage your friends, family, and personal contacts to sign up for our Email Insiders mailing list here. If they sign up, we’ll be able to reach them with news of your book!
